In most cases it's a work in progress before they even sign a recording contract. Later albums are written and recorded under due dates and a strict timeline.
Creatively talented human beings struggle with due dates. As one of my English professors said, "With no deadlines, all of you would write the perfect paper and earn an A everytime."

I moved here last year and found my favorite type of music on WETA Classical Radio. However, on my one-hour commute in the mornings, I must listen to the radio host, Linda Carducci. No one has any doubt that she is Linda Carducci, because she says "Hi, I'm Linda Carducci" between almost every song. At first I thought it was just filler talk, but I now think this woman is in love with her own name. What a narcissist!
